Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a specialist interest in Respiratory Physiotherapy, to join an evolving Post Covid Team. This post is for 12 months, covering maternity leave.
The post will be based within the Post Covid Service and its future transition plans but will sit primarily in the Breathlessness pathway within this. The pathway has been designed to assess and treat breathing pattern disorders identified Post Covid, as well as existing respiratory conditions, such as Asthma. The successful candidate will be supported to strengthen and build skills within this area. There will also be opportunities to develop more holistic assessment skills within a Multidisciplinary clinic environment. All patient contact is conducted in an Outpatient clinic setting.
The post is suitable for a band 6 with experience in Respiratory wanting to develop further skills or an established band 7.
You will work within an established team of Physiotherapists, OT, SLT and time in a Consultant led clinic.
The post is for 30hours a week with some weekend working.

Main duties of the job
To take a major role in the advanced physiotherapeutic assessment, management and treatment of Post
Covid and respiratory patients with diverse presentations and complex physical conditions; to provide a
diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised specialist treatment programme.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.
To work as a team to provide day to day management (reviewing performance and progress, allocation and
checking of work) and training to junior physiotherapy staff, and to ensure competence in carrying out duties
with patients with respiratory problems.
Plan the supervision and education and assess the performance of physiotherapy students; this would be to a
graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching
meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
Undertake regular evidence-based audit and research projects (as appropriate) to further own and team's
clinical practice. Make recommendations to Clinical Team Leader for changes to practice by the team. Lead
the implementation of specific changes to practice and contribute to service protocols within own area of
clinical practice, in collaboration with colleagues.
